Karl Hallam

Karl is a Director of cadence. He has worked as a consultant and independent researcher for a number of years, and has previously worked as a Policy Adviser to a Metropolitan Council Leader and as a researcher at ippr. 

He is a co-author of two ippr reports "A Good game?" (2006),looking at the role of sport in society and "Streets Ahead - The inequality in child pedestrian casualties".

As a consultant he has developed Play Strategies with a number of local authorities and has worked on a review of the National Playing Fields Association's planning policy guidance. He has also worked with Sustrans to improve sustainable transport links to physical activities.

Karl is collaborating with Sheffield University's spatial inequalities department. on access to youth provision and the links between participation and health, particularly obesity.

Karl previously worked promoting sustainable transport in a partnership with public health, local government and the private sector and has studied Environmental Economics at a post-graduate level. He also worked on the Football Foundation's Register of England's Football Facilities.

Karl has experience of national, local and specialist media including recent contributions to Public Magazine on Innovation.
