Fundraising April 18th 2013

Alternative Fundraising Ideas, Thursday 18th April, 9.30 to 11 am at The Forum Coffee Bar, Division Street

Come and join us for the last in our trio of money based topics. This month we are going to be looking at three innovative ideas for Alternative Fundraising you may not have tried yet. As ever, places are limited please book your ticket HERE. We look forward to seeing you in our new venue, the Forum Coffee Bar on Division Street from 9.30 am to 11 am on Thursday 18th April!

This Cafe is led one of the Third Sector Cafe co-founders, Laura Lashmar. Laura runs the Sheffield-based creative marketing agency, Spiky Communications which uses creative marketing to get maximum impact for third sector clients. Laura's put together this cafe to introduce us to three creative approaches to making the most of the resources available to you to generate an impact. We are going to be covering:

1. Online giving via social media
2. Crowd funding
3. Ethical investment portfolios

Laura will open the cafe with an introduction to the sites people are using to donate money to charities and look at creative ways you could use social media to have a presence on these sites.

To explore the potential of crowd funding to raise funds for some charitable causes, Laura has invited along some local people to tell us about their experiences. Also invited is Graham Walton from Ethical Investment PHFS, an ethical investment specialist, to join us. Graham was involved with the Portland Works project (featured in our June 2012 Cafe discussion) and works with people in the city who want to invest their money in more ethical products. We hope he will give us an insight into the factors that influence wealthy, ethical investors!
