Abbeydale Primary and Totley All Saints schools met up to day talk about their neighbourhoods, as part of Cadence Works' Hoodie, goodie, buddy project. Totley year 5s had done scrap books about their area and Abbeydale poems. They live at different ends of the same road, the Abbeydale Road corridor. The road goes from the city centre in Sheffield out to the Peak District in about 7 miles.
The children had a great time and impressed local MP Paul Blomfield, local Police Community Support Officer and other local heroes who visited the school. An impromptu cricket game spanned break and lunch time and there are plans for a return visit to Totley soon.
The children go ton well and now know a lot more about each other and the place they live, which should be helpful when they come together in secondary school. The local newspaper was on hand too and we filmed it and will have some footage soon for the website.
The project is also on the BBC South Yorkshire website today too. Remember to do our survey.
