Aspirations and attainment in deprived communities

A recent project between the Social Exclusion Task Force, DCSF and CLG says 'Young people in certain types of neighbourhood are less likely to develop high aspirations. These neighbourhoods tend to have high levels of deprivation'.

This is interesting stuff and is closley aligned to some of the thinking Cadence Works have been doing with Professor Danny Dorling's Social and Spatial Inequalities Research Group. Some of our thoughts have been around the role Primary Schools play in shaping the success of a neighbourhood and the local residents. This is a theme we hope to follow up on during 2009.
